Advertisers know our most valuable asset is time. The self-help bandwagon also maintains our most precious resource is time. Less time reflecting on what you can’t influence.
When it comes to decision-making, time is always your friend. Or is it?
In my case, it often just gives me space to overthink. But then, you might be different.
I’ll offer this: time doesn’t necessarily create better decisions. Sometimes it does the opposite. The longer we sit with a decision, the more opportunity we give ourselves to doubt it.
Yes, information helps. More time can help us gather it. But more time without new information? That often just creates uncertainty.
Making a decision frees up the very asset that many claim is so valuable. Time. We can get on with other stuff: projects, relationships, leisure. Life, really.
Try it for a day. Be selective about which decisions you apply this to—we’re not talking about life-changing choices or anything that deserves proper consideration.
But starting tomorrow, or today, for a day, make every decision as soon as you have enough facts.
See what happens.
