Three things scare me most. Mortality, heights, and the notion that the ideas- well might run dry.
We’ve spoken before about hesitation to share ideas; the uncertainty of acceptance, the fear someone might steal it, and the void between success and failure.
Irene said I was nothing but a dreamer—in a nice way. The teachers wrote about it in school reports: “He sits staring out of the window, seemingly wishing to be somewhere else.” True, and yes, I did.
For me, dreaming has always filled the ideas-well. And the ideas have helped sustain my optimism. Together, they create a state of “what could be.” A place that sits well within my shrinking orbit. I need to dream a little to think.
Please, don’t save good ideas for later. Use them all now, today, in the moment. More ideas will come if you allow yourself to dream some.
Fuck, that’s so wishy-washy. But it’s true for me, which is why I’m sharing it here.
Nick
P.S. I’ve always preferred blue to red. It’s a South Manchester thing :)
