Staying open
Ideas don't wait for permission
‘Stay open and lock the door’. A retail maxim where owners allow customers to finish their shopping after the bell.
The same principle applies to ideas. Don't lock them out. Allow them to wander, browse, and develop without the pressure of time.
Creativity hits without notice, whatever field you're in. For me it's a closing paragraph, or teaching the perfectly hit cut shot that slices the field, or a yip-free chip over a bunker to a tight pin.
These moments matter. They're reminders you're on the right path, doing something that genuinely excites you. Enjoy them; don't push them away. Be sure you're there to collect.
Ideas don't wait for permission.

Butch Harmon (guess nationality?) on how to throw a golf club after an errant shot. Harmon is as straight as it gets, normally. Brilliant.
