Find the cover version—of a song, a habit, of a life. Sometimes the cover beats the original.
Living solo, for now, means, amongst other stuff, single-handed cooking. Don’t mind it, just not all the time.
Friday, after a coupla meat-raffle brews, Home with nowt to recycle. Mexican beans and rice, not taxing, 20 mins or so. Get to it.
I like music, just not to the extent of others. It's there when I need it—kinda like where I wish to be with alcohol.
With the rice steaming and beans simmering, some music. Teddy Swims has been on my radar for a while—his cover of Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" a favourite. Then came his 2019 cover of Shania Twain's "You're Still The One," which kicked off large and ultimately landed Swims a record deal. Today, the video has more than 200 million views on YouTube.
Next time you play an old or new favourite, take a minute and look up who covered it. There’s some good stuff out there.
The rice and beans? Pretty hard to fuck that up.
