She was beautiful, dependable, consistent—yes, just beautiful. I couldn’t been happier, more attached. So what went wrong?
A new model came out: sleeker, longer, more cosmetically appealing. “But I love what I have.” “We’ve got a special bond.” “She’s always there when I needed her—straight, reliable and faithful.”

If Ping’s previous model, the G430 Max, is good enough for Big Tony Finau and Lydia Ko—my two favourite golfers—then why isn’t it good enough for me?
Fortunately—unlike the real world—we can go back, tail between the legs, and keep swinging the old faithful with considered abandon, while the new and shiny sits parked with my unread books and solicitor invoices.
And yes, I still think about her every time I miss left.
