Because we’re transparent here, I thought I should share the question from Wednesday’s post in relation to Ollie Peake, Australia’s Men’s ODI #7 batter—although this won’t be a permanent position. You can read more about that here.
In the post I said, “I know his tendencies; it surfaced mid-innings again. Tendencies do; they’re annoying.”
And my question was this: “How did the head position and weight transfer feel?” We are mindful of secrets here, so I’ll keep Peakey’s response in the vault for now.
After a few minutes of two-handed message tennis, the conversation ended, as it does. He must have found something better to do.
I did finish, though, with a statement. “If you’re in at the death Friday, why not bang a few bombs?”
Wednesday’s post ended with: “Coaching is mostly that—asking the right question at the right time. Now, we wait and see.”
Wait and see?
41 from 18. Two fours, three maximums. The last over read:
Ball 1 — hard swing, 2 runs.
Ball 2 — money ball, hard swing to wide long on. Mad-max.
Ball 3 — wide yorker, off-side squeeze, 2 runs.
Ball 4 — slow bouncer, wide.
Ball 5 — length ball, down-the-line swing. Straight six.
Ball 6 — short ball, ramp slash shovel over fine leg. Another six.
Ball 7 — wide yorker, 1 run.
23 runs from the last over. Three bombs.
We waited. We watched. Nice work, Peakey.
Nick
