Adam Schriber is a Golf Digest Top 50 instructor. His poster student J.J. Spaun won the 2025 U.S. Open in dramatic fashion. Schriber came through the Leadbetter system, runs biometrics with Penn State, uses K-Motion sensors and V1 Sports. He knows the data. You wouldn’t guess it at first glance.
He groups his students as the Schribe Tribe. Not a client list—a tribe. The framing matters—highlighting his coaching doesn’t end when the session does.
There’s a term for what he does that doesn’t visibly exist yet. Vibe coaching.
Schriber is not anti-technical—his players don’t win U.S. Opens on good vibes alone. But the technical work sits inside something bigger. A philosophy that treats the athlete as a whole person, not a movement pattern to be optimised. I cannot emphasise this enough. Young coaches: please take note.
Sports coaching is overflowing with technicians—people who can tell you exactly what’s wrong and prescribe the fix. What’s rarer is someone who can do all of that and still make you feel like the work is about more than the mechanics.
Technique without connection is just information.
Something to think about on a Sunday. It’s my intention to dig deeper in this space.
